The Helmet of Salvation

Eph. 6:10-18

Pastor Don Delagrange

  • Salvation is about your eternal destiny.
    • Receiving salvation redeems you.  (1 Pet. 1:18)
      • Rescued us  (Col. 1:13)
      • What must I do to be saved?  (Acts 16:30-31)
    • Applying salvation protects you.
  • The hope of salvation.  (1 Thess. 5:8)

  • The enemy is after your mind.
  • Protect the brain, every body function is connected to the brain.
  • Protect your mind, the control center, the enemy wants to cripple you.
  • You need the Spirit in this battle.

  • Work out (to bring to completion) your salvation.  (Phil. 2:12-14)
  • Applying salvation involves:
    • Knowing you have an inheritance.  (Eph. 1:10b-12, Rom. 8:17)
    • Set your mind on things above.  (Col. 3:1-3)
    • Think good thoughts.  (Phil. 4:7,8)
    • Let the Word of Christ dwell in you.  (Col. 3:16)
      • Satisfies spiritual thirst  (Is. 55:10-11)
      • Makes you strong (1 Jn. 2:14)
    • Personal worship
    • Pray on all occasions  (Eph. 6:18)

Getting Started

1. List the negative things that occupy your mind most days. How do you keep from dwelling on these thoughts? Does it work for you?

2. Review the pieces of the Roman soldier’s armor. What spiritual applications have you made from the messages on the Armor of God?

Study Questions and Applications

3. In John 8:42-47, what is the devil called? Why was his audience not able to hear?  What was the proof they belonged to Satan? Church membership and family connections do not make you true sons of God, what does?

4. What are some lies the devil places in people’s minds? The leaders Jesus was speaking to were being used as tools of the devil.  How might the devil be using people today to carry out his plans? Be specific in your answers.

5. Ephesians 6:18 says to pray. What does the Bible teach us about prayer? Discuss the Lord’s Prayer and how Jesus intended for you to use it. Is it a prayer to be recited daily or is Jesus giving you a model for praying?

6. What does the Bible mean by “praying in the Spirit”? (Eph. 6:18) What does it mean to pray a heart-felt prayer? Refer to James 5:16. Sense the presence of God and express the sincere desires of your heart.
