ENCOUNTER: Who will worship God in heaven?

Pastor Jeremy Helmuth

ENCOUNTER: Who will worship God in heaven?

We are given a scene from heaven depicting at least four different kinds of created beings worshipping God:

  1. 24 elders
  2. 4 living creatures
  3. Angels
  4. Redeemed humanity

ENCOUNTER: What will the worshipers give God?

We are told that everyone worshiped God by giving Him:

  1. Power
  2. Wealth
  3. Wisdom
  4. Strength
  5. Honor
  6. Glory
  7. Praise
  8. Thanks

ENCOUNTER: Do I live for myself or for God?

How we live determines our destiny:

Live for God’s glory, not for your own glory.

Discussion Questions

Getting Started

1. Why do you think God created the 4 living creatures? Do you think that Ezekiel 1 is describing the same kind of creature, or is it a different one? Talk about how God is so great that He has creatures worshiping Him constantly around the clock.

Digging Deeper

2. In Revelation 5:8, it refers to the “prayers of the saints.” Does this encourage you that your prayers get to the throne of God? What kind of prayers reach God? What kind of prayers stop at the ceiling?

3. Discuss how Jesus is referred to as a lion (Hosea 5:14; 11:10; 13:8; Jeremiah 49:19; Lamentations 3:10; Job 10:16) and a lamb (John 1:29; Revelation 6:16; 17:14; 21:27; 22:3). What are the characteristics of a lion? What are the attributes of a lamb?

4. Why do you think God created so many angels? What are the roles angels play in God’s plan? Look up these: Cherubim (Genesis 3:24); Seraphim (Isaiah 6:2-4); Thrones (Ezekiel 1); Archangels (Daniel 10:13; Luke 1:11-38); Ministering angels (Hebrews 13:2).

Applying the Bible

5. Take time to think about how you can give praise, wealth, wisdom, strength, honor, glory, praise and thanks to God. Is there something you can do this week to show God true worship in a way you have never experienced before?

6. In Revelation 5:10, we are told that humans were made to serve God. Could you be described as a servant? Are you currently serving God? If not, then commit to serving today. How can you carve out time this week to give back to God in order to give Him glory?
